If you’re considering adding a SaunaBox to your wellness routine, you might be wondering:
How much electricity does this thing actually use?
You’re not alone—it’s a common concern, and we wanted to get a real answer for you.
Instead of relying on estimates, we tested it ourselves using an electricity usage monitor to get accurate data.
How We Tested It
We used the Multi-function Power Unit Monitor to measure the actual power consumption of our SaunaBox during a typical session.
We set the sauna to its highest heat setting (level 7) and let it preheat for 15 minutes, before I hopped in for 10 minutes.
In total, the SaunaBox ran for 25 minutes straight, which could be considered average session length for most users.
The Results
After 25 minutes at full blast our SaunaBox used 0.865 kWh (kilowatt-hours) of electricity. Now, let’s break that down into real-world costs.
How Much Does It Cost to Run the SaunaBox?
To calculate the cost, we’ll assume an average electricity rate of $0.15 per kWh (your local rate may vary). Below is a breakdown of what you can expect:
| Usage Frequency | kWh Used | Estimated Cost ($0.15/kWh) |
|---|---|---|
| One Session (25 min) | 0.865 kWh | $0.13 |
| Daily Use (30 days) | 25.95 kWh | $3.89 |
| Weekly Use (4 times a month) | 3.46 kWh | $0.52 |
Note: If your electricity rate is higher or lower, simply multiply the kWh usage by your rate to get a more accurate cost estimate.
So, Is SaunaBox Expensive to Run?
Not at all! Even if you used it every single day for a month, it would cost you less than $4—which is far cheaper than a gym or spa membership! Plus, considering the health benefits of regular sauna use, it’s an investment in both wellness and relaxation.
If you’re using it once a week, it’s even more affordable, costing around 50 cents per month to operate.
Final Thoughts
The SaunaBox is not just a great way to relax and support your health—it’s also surprisingly energy-efficient. Whether you’re using it daily or just a few times a week, the cost is minimal compared to the benefits.
