Why I Bought My First Pair of Grounding Sheets
I bought my first pair of grounding sheets from Amazon on June 10th, 2023.
I had fallen for the hype…

I’m a big benefits guy.
As an athlete and avid Brazilian Jiu Jitsu competitor I’m always searching for the little things that will make me a percentile better.
I did my own research into earthing/grounding and knew 100% there was evidence and benefits (such as the study below) to having your bare feet touch the earth.
“The grounded subjects experienced less pain, reduced muscle damage, and faster recovery compared to ungrounded controls.”
When I found out grounding sheets could keep me connected to the Earth for all 8 hours I was sleeping, I was hooked.
Why ground for a few minutes outside every day, when I can do it all night?
But it still made me wonder…
The grounding sheet I use is plugged into the grounding port of my wall outlet, which connects to a grounding rod buried outside my apartment. Am I really getting the full benefits? Does the science behind grounding still hold up in this setup? And what do the actual studies say?
Here’s what I’ve compiled after sleeping with grounding sheets every single day for over 2 years.
My Own Study – 2 Years Worth of Data
First things first, let me tell you, the first two nights of utilizing the grounding sheets, both my girlfriend and I can attest that we slept deeper.
Did we sleep that well every single night since then?
No, absolutely not…
Of course, I’ve had rough nights of sleep since starting to sleep on my grounding sheets. But take a look a look at the data below and you’ll see some intriguing numbers.
Resting Heart Rate
Over the past two years, I’ve been tracking my resting heart rate using my Fitbit.
When I started grounding in mid-June 2023 with my new sheets from Amazon, my average resting heart rate was 61 bpm. But here’s where it gets interesting: in the months that followed, my heart rate consistently dropped — not just slightly, but significantly.

By the end of 2023, it had fallen to 57 bpm.
Through 2024 and into 2025, it’s stayed remarkably stable, often hovering between 54–56 bpm.
To put that into perspective: at the start of 2023, my resting heart rate was 71 bpm. That’s a 17 bpm drop over two years. And the most substantial change happened after I began grounding.

Now, of course, there are many factors that can affect heart rate — sleep, stress, fitness, caffeine, and more.
But when you see a clear downward trend that stabilizes shortly after introducing a new recovery tool, it’s hard not to pay attention.
I’m not saying grounding sheets are magic. But I am saying that something changed — and my body seems to be resting better for it.
How My Personal Grounding Data Compares to Scientific Studies
Here’s something interesting.
After looking at my Resting Heart Rate over the course of 2 years, and the positive correlation that my sgrounding sheets helped lower it, I decided to do some research.
I googled ‘does grounding lower heart rate’ and here are the results I got…
Yes, grounding or earthing, which involves connecting the body to the Earth’s surface, has been linked to improvements in heart rate variability (HRV), which can indirectly contribute to a lower resting heart rate
This study performed by the Journal of Alternative and Complementary Medicine which further stated that “grounding could become important for relaxation, health maintenance and disease prevention.”

Studying The Effectiveness of Grounding Sheets with a Digital Multimeter
Now, someone can tell you the benefits of their grounding sheets all they want.
But is there an actual way to measure if your grounding sheets are working/effective.
The answer is yes, and you can do so with a simple instrument – a digital multimeter. I did exactly that.
Take a look at the images below. The first one showcases my voltage without touching my grounding sheets, the second one when I do. What do you notice.

You’ll see that my voltage drops from 1.449 volts to nearly zero – .016 volts to be exact.
This is no coincidence. This is no coincidence.
It’s direct, measurable proof that the grounding sheet is conducting the Earth’s energy and actively reducing the excess voltage in my body—just like it’s supposed to.
Why is this happening you may ask?
It all comes down to how your body interacts with the electrical environment around you. When you’re indoors, especially near electronics and wiring, your body can absorb ambient voltage from the surrounding EMFs (electromagnetic fields).
But when you touch a properly connected grounding sheet, it provides a direct path to the Earth’s natural electrical field, allowing that excess voltage to discharge—bringing your body back to a more balanced, grounded state.
